Kylemore Abbey & Gardens

Kylemore Abbey was built in the middle of the 19th century by Mitchell Henry and is now one of Ireland's most exclusive girls' boarding schools. Run by the Benedictine Sisters it caters for Irish as well as international pupils. The little Gothic Chapel, down one of the wooded laneways, has recently been refurbished to its original condition and there are beautiful gardens to explore. So there is plenty for the visitor to see as they roam around this lovely estate. The Sisters run a pottery workshop, a gift shop and a restaurant. Making a visit to this place is well worth while, both for the beauty of the spot and also some of the really good home-baking.

Killery Harbour

Killery Harbour is one of the deepest inlets in Europe, and it is said that British submarines sheltered here during WWW2. Its setting is majestic and Killery has to rank as one of Ireland's most scenic locations. The drive from here through Louisburg to Westport in County Mayo is beauty beyond compare!

Inagh Valley

Maam Valley

This are divides up the maamturk mountains of Connemara. This valley has to be visited to be appreciated.

The Atlantic Coast

The Altantic Coast along the western seaboard brings you through one of Ireland's few remaining Irish-speaking Gaeltacht areas. The Burren landscape can be seen in the distance and on a fine day one can see the Aran Islands.
